KIONGOZI WA CHAMA CHA ACT WAZALENDO MH: ZITTO KABWE LEO AMETOA TAARIFA HII INAYOLAANI VIKALI KUHUSU MANYANYASO YA WAPINZANI NCHINI ZAMBIA YANAYOFANYWA NA SERIKALI YA ZAMBIA
Chama cha ACT Wazalendo kimeshitushw a na taarifa za kukamatwa kwa Kiongozi wa Chama cha UPND ambacho ni Chama Kikuu cha Upinzani nchini Zambia Ndugu Hakainde Hichilema (HH). Ndugu Hichilema ndiye aliyekuwa mpinzani wa Rais wa sasa wa Zambia Ndugu Edgar Lungu katika uchaguzi mkuu uliopita wa nchi hiyo.
Jana, Polisi waliokuwa na silaha nzito walivamia makazi ya Kiongozi huyo yaliyoko eneo la New Kasama mjini Lusaka usiku wa manane na kupiga mabomu ya machozi kabla ya kumkamata.
Ndugu Hakainde anatarajia kufikishwa mahakamani kwa tuhuma za uhaini. Adhabu ya kosa la uhaini kwa mujibu wa sheria za Zambia ni adhabu ya kifo. Mwanasiasa huyo hana rekodi ya makosa ya jinai na kitendo cha kukamatwa kwake ni mbinu ya watawala kumhujumu kisiasa.
Chama chetu kinalaani kukamatwa kwa Kiongozi huyo kwa sababu ni hatua inayoendelea kukandamiza viongozi wa vyama vya upinzani barani Afrika na kuminya ustawi wa demokrasia kwa ujumla. Vitendo vya kukamatwa na kufunguliwa kesi mbalimbali kwa viongozi wa upinzani vimekuwa vikishamiri kwa kasi katika nchi za Kiafrika na nchi yetu imejikuta ni muhanga wa matukio hayo.
ACT Wazalendo inatoa wito kwa wapenda demokrasia wote, watetezi wa haki za binadamu, Wanamajumui, Umoja wa Afrika na Jumuiya ya Kimataifa kupinga na kulaani kamata kamata ya viongozi wa vyama vya upinzani inayofanywa na viongozi walioko madarakani katika nchi mbalimbali za Afrika.
ACT Wazalendo ikiongozwa na msingi wa utu na msimamo wa kusimama na wanyonge popote pale duniani itaendelea kupigania amani, haki na usawa kwa watu wote bila kujali mipaka ya nchi, rangi au kabila.

Zambian Government must stop harassing and arrest of opposition leaders
ACT WAZALENDO has been troubled to learn of the arrest of Mr. Hakainde Hichilema (HH), a leader of the United Party for National Development (UPND) which is the Zambian main opposition Party.
Mr. Hichilema happened to be the main rival of the sitting President Edgar Lungu in the last general election.
Mr. Hichilema was arrested following an overnight raid of his home by armed police who fired teargas as they surrounded his home New Kasama in Lusaka capital.
Mr. Hichilema is expected to appear to court on treason charges which in fact, according to Zambian law, the penalty for treason charges is death. Mr. Hichilema has no criminal records, these charges seem to be staged so as to trouble his political career.
ACT WAZALENDO strongly condemn the arrest of Hichema bacause it is not only an ongoing plot to suppress opposition leaders in Africa, but also the act pinches the growth of democracy in general.
We are saying this due to the fact that the arrest and pressing charges against leaders of the opposition in African countries has been in the rapid increase, and in fact Tanzania is among the victims of such cruelty.
ACT WAZALENDO appeals to all pro democracy campaigners, human rights activists, Africa Union and the United Nations to oppose and condemn such arrests which are being engineered by those in power.
With the view of supporting human rights and the respect to people's dignity anywhere in the World, ACT WAZALENDO will keep fighting for peace, justice and equality of all people regardless of tribes, color and national borders, because we believe people deserve equal treatment under the law, and the ability to exercise their rights without fear of retribution.
