This painting of a young woman breastfeeding an old man in a prison cell sold for 30 million euros. The painting may seem perverse, but the story behind it is a historical record.

The poor man was sentenced to "death by starvation" for stealing a loaf of bread during the reign of Louis XIV in France. The woman was his only daughter and the only visitor to his cell. She was allowed to visit him every day, but she was thoroughly searched, so that no food was taken.

When the man was still alive four months later, having not lost any weight, the authorities were perplexed and began spying on her in her cell. To their utter astonishment, they found her breastfeeding her father, sharing her baby's milk. The judges, realizing the woman's compassion and love for her father, pardoned the father and released him.

This piece of history highlights how deep a woman's compassion is in our daily lives, something that men often over
look.

Someone once said, “Men give each other insults they don’t mean; women give each other compliments they don’t mean.” I love this quote, as I have existed in both male and female circles and I can tell you that female circles are FAR more vicious and critical than male circles.

Men will call each other names for fun, they really don’t mean it, it’s just teasing to lighten the mood and have fun. However, a good mens’ group will be there for you when you need, and stop the teasing and get down to business when they take it too far or if a problem arises. My friends are like this, when I caught taiwanese flu, they came over, cleaned my home and cut my shrubs, and did so while laughing. They are amazing dudes.

Women however, will pretend to all get along and compliment each other, then, when they turn around, every girl will try to spread rumors and tear down every other girl in order to build herself up. If something goes wrong, they EASILY exile the ‘weak link’ and stop talking to them in order to save themselves the trouble, right after spreading a million rumors and conspiring against whoever DARED to cause them trouble. I’ve never lasted long in a female group, I tried to just smile and be nice, but every time one of them would ALWAYS get tired of me sitting on the fence and ask me a leading question, and if I didn’t give an answer that forced me to pick sides, she’d spread rumors and start drama herself. Thus I just gave up at one point and decided to just do my work.

Now are there bad men’s groups? Yes, they are called gangs, and they are bad. Are there good womens’ groups? Sure, I’ve never been in a non-toxic group, but surely they must exist too. However, in normal circles, at work, at college, in churches, amongst family and friends, the above applies univers
ally.
