Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said the youngest case is a 6 month-old baby
“We have increased our testing capacity and the 80 new cases are from 3,102 samples that were tested in the last 24 hours,” he said
So far, cumulative samples tested are 52, 507.
On Thursday, CS Kagwe said Nairobi and Mombasa are still leading with 41 cases and 20 cases respectively
Seven other cases are from Siaya County and the contacts were traced back to a mourner who travelled from Kibera in Nairobi
“Someone signed the document that allowed this mourner to travel. It was inspected by police all the way from Kibera to Siaya,” the CS lamented.
9 people have since been discharged bringing the total number of recoveries to 375.
Fatalities still stand at 50 as there have been no deaths in the last 24 hours.
“This war cannot be won by the government alone but by all individuals following rules,” the CS said on Thursday.
He thanked all those who have come out to be tested in the targeted high risk areas such as Old Town in Mombasa and Eastleigh in Nairobi.
The CS also said the Government is still monitoring border points.
