Richmond Development Company of Houston (RDC) which is developing several projects in the East African nation of Tanzania hosted The Tanzanian Ambassador to USA, The Honorable Andrew M. Daraja to Houston, Texas, from July 20 through to July 22, 2003.

During his visit, Ambassador Daraja was introduced to the leaders of the business community of Houston, which also included alliance partner companies of RDC.

Ambassador Daraja acknowledged that the African region is becoming prominent with regard to the economic and strategic interests of United States as evidenced by President Bush's recent trip to the region.

"With some of our Tanzanian projects approaching financial close, RDC will add new high caliber jobs in Houston" said Dr. Huque, a principal at RDC.

"The fact that Ambassador Daraja came to Houston demonstrates the commitment of The Government of Tanzania to extend business cooperation of Houston based companies" added Mr. Gire, another principal at RDC.

The highlight of The Ambassador's visit to Houston was a Gala Dinner attended by Dr. Lee P. Brown, Mayor of Houston.

The Mayor awarded an honoree citizenship to The Ambassador.

tzpride, tunashukuru angalau kuna mtu yuko karibu.

a. Je hilo jenereta linamilikiwa na Tanesco, serikali ya Tanzania au RDC?

b. Kama halikuazimwa, limenunuliwa kwa kiasi gani na bei yake ndiyo ilikuwa ya chini zaidi kuliko kulinunua sehemu nyingine?

c. Mkataba wa kuliendesha na kulihudumia jenereta hilo unasema nini kuhusu matengenezo, kuharibika n.k je hilo jenereta lina waranti yoyote toka kwa mtengenezaji?

d. Je hilo jenerator ni jipya au limeshawahi kutumika.

TZPride what are U talking about??? Tanesco signed a contract to lease the generators for 2 yrs. When U said "" jenerata halijakodiwa "" una maana gani wakati mkataba ni wa kukodi jenereta?? Ebu acheni hizo spin zisizo na maana.
 
TzPride naona anaingia na gia zile zile ambazo hapa hazitaisihia mbali . Ninapenda kuwa hakikishieni kwamba majereta hayo yameazimwa na si kununulia .Kwa hiyo we have spent so much kwa kitu cha muda maana serikali haina shida na ku solve shida ya umeme Tanzania kwa kuwa madukani yao yatakosa soko la vijenerata.Kwa hiyo tumeazima na hatujanunua .Mwendo mdundo kasi mpya
 
Nakumbuka kuwa niliwahi siku za nyuma Kikwete akiwaambia wanachi kuwa serikali ilikuwa na temporary solution kuhusu mgao wa umeme ambayo ingepunguza adha ya blackouts wakati permanent solution ikiwa inashughulikiwa. Hiyo ilikuwa kabla ya skendo la Richmond. Labda hii ndiyo ilikuwa temporary solution yenyewe.

CHINA has promised to assist Tanzania with generators to help in the production of electricity by using coal to be mined at Kiwira in Mbeya Region.

The pledge was made by Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao yesterday when they met with President Jakaya Kikwete shortly after his arrival from Japan.

The Chinese assistance is aimed at bringing to an end the power shortage in Tanzania.

They also pledged to continue their assistance in the Chalinze water project aimed at supplying water to Sangasanga and Ngerengere areas. The Chinese leaders further promised to boost operations of the Tanzania Zambia Railway Authority (Tazara) until its privatisation.

The other projects lined up for Chinese assistance include the renovation of the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar, Radio Tanzania Zanzibar, STZ, broadcasting station and malaria projects in Tanzania Mainland and the Isles.

President Jintao also promised President Kikwete that he would personally make efforts to woo Chinese investors to invest in Tanzania with the aim of creating jobs that would in turn improve the lives of Tanzanians.

He expressed China's keen interest in Tanzania's economic growth.

Mr Kikwete thanked the Chinese leaders and the Chinese government for its social and economic assistance it has been giving to Tanzanians.

He said he was thankful for the promises given by the Chinese government to assist in electricity projects, water and other social services that aim at alleviating poverty and improving the lives of the people.

Mr Kikwete is in China to attend, along with over 40 other African leaders, a summit that would discuss and pass resolutions on sustainable co-operation between China and Africa.

Mimi baada ya kufanya kazi na wachina kwa muda mrefu sasa nina wasiwasi na nia yao Tanzania na Afrika kwa jumla. Hawa jamaa ni wabinafsi na wakatiri sana kiasi kuwa wanapokuahidi kitu fulani ni lazima uwe makini na wanachotarajia kutoka kwako. Katika nyanja za kujadiliana na watu wajanja kama wachina ndipo haja wa watanzania kuwa na viongozi smart inapokuja. Viongozi wote wa serikali ya China either wana Masters au Ph.D katika engineering, kwa hiyo jamaa hawa kwa kweli wanawaelemea sana viongozi wa kiafrika ambao wengi wao ni wanasiasa wa bla bla na digrii za kununua kama za akina Nchimbi. Juzi juzi wamemwingiza mkenge bwana Mugabe pale Zimbabwe kwa kumuahidi kumpa ndege moja akinunua ndege mbili (yaani buy two get one free), na mara baada ya ndege kufika Zimbabwe hazikumaliza hata mwaka ziakishia kwenye vigogo. Kama hiyo haitoshi, walimuahidi tena Mugabe kuwa watampa generator za umeme (kama wanavyomwabia Kikwete sasa), lakini malipo ni kwamba wapewe haki pekee (exclusive rights) ya kuchimba Chromium na Platinum kwa kipindi kadhaa bila kuelezana kuwa madini hayo yatachimbwa kiasi gani kwa mwaka.

Wachina wana pesa za kuleta kwetu na zinaweza kutusaidia, lakini ni lazima viongozi wetu wawe makini sana wanapoingia mikataba na jamaa hawa. Linaloniuma zaidi ni kwamba wana tendency ya kudhani kuwa waswahili ni vilaza wasioona mbali, kwa hiyo huwa wanawatega kwa mianya ya muda mfupi hali wakijua kuwa faida yao kubwa itakuja baada ya muda mrefu na wakati huo waswahili watakuwa wameshabanwa mbavu vya kutosha kushindwa kufurukuta.
 
Toka kuanzishwa kwa Tazara, ni wachina na wazambia tu ambao wamekuwa wakinufaika nayo, sio sisi wabongo ila kwa sababu hii ni sawa na Muuungano haiguswi,

Nasikia kuwa wakati tunaelekea kupata Uhuru, kuna wazungu walimwambia Nyerere kuwa nchi yetu ilikuwa haijawa tayari kwa uhuru. Lakini Nyerere aliwashinda kwa hoja na mwishoni tukapata uhuru huo kabla ya nchi zote za afrika ya mashariki. Je haya mambo ya Tanzania kuonewa kimikataba na nchi za nje kama vile mikataba yote ya afrika ya Kusini, na sasa huu wa Richmond, na tena ile ya wachina ni matokeo ya kuwa hatujawa tayari kujitawala ndiyo maana tuntawaliwa kimikataba? Nakumbuka hata kwenye jumuia ya afrika ya mashariki Tanzania ilikuwa kwenye loosing side.
 
Hivi State House na watu wa External Intelligence si ndio kazi yao kucheki maslahi ya Taifa kwenye Mikataba mikubwa mikubwa?

Sasa kama wakubwa wenyewe wenye kutakiwa kufanya uamuzi wanakataa au kupuuza ushauri kwa maslahi yao binafsi, watoa ushauri wafanyeje? Sana sana na wao wanachangamkia tenda zao! Poor Tanzania!
