Zambia Prepares To Spy On Its Internet
Reports have surfaced that Zambia is building a system to spy on its citizens through the Internet. According to security website CSO, several sources from Zambian mobile companies and ISPs have confirmed that the government has enlisted the help of the Chinese to install Deep Packet Inspection technology. This can be used to watch traffic from a specific IP and could even monitor someone as they type an email.
The site reports that China helped Ethiopia with similar technology two years ago - it also helped block access to major international news sites. This is just the latest sign that Zambia is sliding from its democratic foundations: recently the Coalition for the Defense of Democratic Rights asked for the country to be suspended from the Commonwealth, saying President Michael Sata and his cronies are guilty of human rights violations and stifling democracy.
My Take:
Tanzania vipi hatujanunua tu hii kitu inayoitwa DEEP PACKET INSPECTION TACHNOLOGY ?
