Owners of motor vehicles are encouraged to pick up their physical logbooks from the National Transport and Safety Authority's (NTSA) facilities.

Kenyans who have already printed logbooks have six months to pick them up because the authority would not keep them after that time.
"All uncollected logbooks will be disposed of in accordance with the Authority's policy after the 6-month period," NTSA stated in a statement.

In order to prevent any inconvenience, drivers are now advised to pick up their printed logbooks as soon as possible.
According to NTSA, "clients will not be able to access services that require a copy of logbook without attaching the current/original logbook in their application."

NTSA declared in May 2026 that it would gradually replace printed physical logbooks with electronic logbooks starting on June 10, 2026.
The authority declared that automated procedures via the eCitizen platform would replace manual, paper-based motor vehicle registration.

According to NTSA, the e-Logbook will allow it to transition from a reactive, paper-based registration that is vulnerable to fraud, delays, and mistakes to a "proactive, real-time digital system with strong integrity controls and automated lifecycle management."

The NTSA portal will quickly generate the e-Logbook, updating vehicle information facts in real time.
The e-logbook shields car owners from forgeries and other fraud that is typical of paper versions by using digital encryption and safe hashing.
