WITH AN EAGLE'S EYE : Hello East Africans, some corrections please!

which companies from Kenya (Kenyan owned) are responsible for that FDI that Tanzania does not recognize except Kenya itself! Can you list them to me and how much they invested? Poor Kenya as i know can not be a second investor to Tanzania if EABL and Unilever mean Kenyan companies then there is no need to explain to you that those are Kenyan owned companies!

significant likes of Bakhresa, METL, Ippmedia, Shelly's Pharmaceuticals, technobrain, Elewana Group and many more are operating in the region and 100% locally owned unlike the likes of NMG and Standardmedia that shareholding is composed of foreigners. The good thing is i don't insult you but i give you facts that you don't wanna admit them cause you are deeply stuck on your stereotype that Kenya is doing wonders while the reality check tells different. So how many tons of maize do you need this year?

click the numbers and you will be directed to the credible sources :A S 13:

You can't use a different source for Kenya (the world bank - a western institution that associates Africa with poverty) and a different source for Tz (Tanzaniainvest - a Tanzanian optimistic website created by Tanzanians in an attempt to create a better image of Tanzania out there). Furthermore, you can't compare the poverty of two countries using the NATIONAL POVERTY LINE, we use the THE WORLD POVERTY LINE buddy are you illiterate? Different countries set different levels of poverty line and a poor person in one country might not be considered poor in another with the same wealth. Stop trying too hard Geza, your hate won't make Kenya any poorer.

Talk of lies and whatever but the following points are true:
...lies are lies, and these points below speak loudly!

Have you noticed how all trucks that cross the borders into and out of Tanzania with or without goods are TANZANIA TRUCKS ONLY? What's the reason? Do you know? Do you think that other EAC countries do not have trucks? (only the Kenyan BOC lorry will be found entering Tanzania carrying oxygen gas)
...really? which borders are you talking about? Italy's? we do see Rwandan and Kenyan trucks, all over the place. go northwest and you'll find as many Rwandan trucks as you wish to count.

Do you know why you will not find any - yes ANY! non Tanzania car on Tanzania roads and towns? (except the border towns) yet you will find Tanzanian vehicles in all EAC towns. Do you think that the other countries do not have cars?
...any one with eyes wide open, can count as many Kenyan, Burundian, Congolese, Ugandan, and Rwandese, to name but a few, as they wish, on the roads in Dar and elsewhere in the country.

Do you know why OVER 90% of all bus passengers going to and from other EAC countries to Tanzania are Tanzania citizens? Do you think that other country's citizens do not like to travel?
...this is a lot of BULLS!

All that am trying to say (and you can confirm this with every business person who does business with Tanzania) is that the EAC as far as Tanzania is concerned was never acceptable from the word go and the point that am ACTUALLY SAYING is that Tanzania has never been interested in any kind of integration and should bless others and let them go.
...what you say, are lies!

Tanzania will not be missed in the EAC. If you called a referendum in all EAC countries today 80% of Tanzanians will say NO to integration and 99% of all other countries will say NO to Tanzania being in the integration.
...ask business ppl, and hear from them.

...when did you conduct a poll on this one?

You people on this thread need to reboot your minds. The cold war of capitalism and socialism has been over since the 90s and yet a good chunk of Tz will always see Kenya through the suspicion lens and a bunch of Kenyans will always see TZ through cold-war-era mindset. If you free your minds of this cold war relic and look into the future you could free EA and Africa to do great things.

Talk of lies and whatever but the following points are true:

When the EAC started, Tanzania said that their economy was down and they needed to move their goods at minimal duties to Kenya for five years while Kenya goods continued to get into Tanzania at normal duty rates. When the 5 years were over Tanzania reneged on the reduction of duties for Kenya goods.

Tanzania continued to disagree on almost every point of EAC integration (EVERY POINT!) with statements like we are not ready, Tanzania will not accept this or that, all these despite having been there at the time of agreement on time schedules for everything. (give an example of anything that Tanzania has accepted regarding anything except only the formation of EAC)

Even when road tolls and duty rates were agreed upon, Tanzania went ahead and hiked their's leading to other countries to do the same.

Tanzania will not be missed in the EAC. If you called a referendum in all EAC countries today 80% of Tanzanians will say NO to integration and 99% of all other countries will say NO to Tanzania being in the integration. Not that anybody hates Tanzania or Tanzanians hate other people no! no! no! it is just the way it was, the way it is, and the way it will always be. A situation that can not be changed. To Tanzania I say team am with SADC and GO! GO! GO! To Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi, Uganda I say team up with Somalia, Ethiopia and South Sudan and GO! GO! GO! and GOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The article here is mainly about Kagame and Kikwete but the comments have leaned towards bashing Kenya. For real I am really swimming in this obsession, it goes to show what impact we have in EAC. All the more reasons we need to do everything within our power to achieve vision 2030 especially now that we are building massive infrastructures and the EAC integration that's becoming a reality. Kenya has now opened a KPA(Kenya Ports Authority) office in Burundi. The five countries willing to integrate economically should fast-track this unstoppable idea. The EAC dream is here and finally taking shape.

for now I do not think kenya is interested in its commitment with tanzania, TZ wants to apply slow intergration in stages, kenya wants a full integration, there are conflicts of interests. For now it is better for each to depart ways and commit themselves to other things
Kenya is not interested in full integration but economical one. We have seen what's happening in the integration between Tanganyika and Zanzibar, daily arguments.

Dar es Salaam. The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) is about to implement an investment plan worth about $1 billion (Sh1.6 trillion) targeting education and health sectors in the country in the next few years, it has been revealed.

Among other things, AKDN is set to invest $80 million for phase 2 expansion of the Aga Khan Hospital in Dar es Salaam; $800 million for expansion of Arusha University main campus and about $30 million which will be directed towards improvement of the Aga Khan Academy in Dar es Salaam.

This is in addition to investment expended to farmers in southern Tanzania, whose output has increased about three-fold following the AKDN boost.

The information comes at a time when exhibition -- dubbed ‘Rays of Light; Glimpses into the Ismaili Imamati' -- is set to open in Dar es Salaam on Saturday at the Diamond Jubilee Hall.

Among others, the exhibition will be graced by the Vice President, Dr Mohammed Gharib Bilal, Prime Minister, Mr Mizengo Pinda, and former President Ali Hassan Mwinyi, each on a separate day. The exhibition, which has so far been staged in Paris, Dubai, Lisbon, Uganda, Canada and the US, aims at showcasing 50 years of His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan's efforts in serving humanity, against the backdrop of the 1,400 years history of Ismaili Imamat.

"With Tanzania being home to several major initiatives, including the Aga Khan University in Arusha, the Aga Khan Academy in Dar es Salaam and the phase 2 expansion of Aga Khan Hospital, the exhibition provides an insight and a context into His Highness the Aga Khan as Imam of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims," said Jehangir Bhaloo, the President of Aga Khan Council in Tanzania.

Oncology programme, launched last week at the Aga Khan Hospital, is one of major breakthroughs marking the phase two expansion of the health facility in Dar es Salaam.

i don't think NMG is owned above 50% by kenyans! Apart from 40% by Aga khan there a number of foreign shareholders (take example Serena Hotels NSSF Tanzania has a stake there)! So still u r way behind compared to Tanzanians no wonder ur GDP is bigger than Tanzania but individuals under poverty line in Kenya are many (around 45%) compared to Tanzania. Cause ur economy is foreign owned! Pls tell us what stake is under Macharia and what is under foreigners and stop yapping and compare to those media houses in Tanzania that are big and 100% native owned

While we do own most of these businesses but we nevertheless allow a conducive environment for foreigners to come in and invest unlike your xenophobia attitude. Kenya ranks 3rd in FDI the whole of Africa.
Also you need to provide real facts and names
Samuel Kamau Macharia, often referred to as SK, owns Royal Media Services. The group owns the dominant TV station in Kenya – Citizen TV – and 11 radio stations.
Chris Kirubi - Owner and CEO: Capital FM
As for poverty, don't give statistics as old as ten years ago, hit Google and give me current statistics and you don't score any better, 65% of your population is living below poverty line and you're busy belching here http://www.dailynews.co.tz/index.ph...er-cent-of-tanzanians-live-below-poverty-line

this i call diarrhea! From which source is that FDI statement derived? As far as i know in EA block u r the last on FDI let aside Africa of 55 countries! There are no data better than IMF and World Bank! Any politician can claim anything but those two institutions have means to calculate the state of economy of a country properly. You are stooping too low in desperation...
