I always ask myself. Is it true that Mr President has done nothing. I mean totally nothing to deserve a huge support from Tanzanians. The only answer I remain with is that some Tanzanians are either blind or pretending to be blind...

The literal and common definition of the word patriotism differs sharply from the one held by dictators or their henchmen.

The latter tend to define the word to mean those supporting and eulogizing them in their acts of oppressing their victims a scenario that is gaining currency nowadays in our country.

A patriot is the one whose love for his/her motherland is unflinching and beyond question and is ready to sacrifice his/her life anytime for the sake of it.

Patriotism, as practised, has nothing to do with a leader or a ruler as such person is a mere mortal and, more importantly, fallible and in some cases can indulge in acts deemed subversive or detrimental to his/her country as a sovereignty.
