Unsubstantiated Social Perceptions About Albinos

There are social perceptions whose understandings have not been justified yet. Some believe Albinos are not normal humans, yet a cross section of societal men and women holds that Albinos are human just by the fact that they too have three basic human needs such as food, shelter and clothing and that since this group of perception see Albinos eating, dressing and take a nap in the shelters then perhaps they qualify a definition of being humans on those grounds therefore. The public sensitization has not addressed this problem of mixed perceptions and come up with unequivocal common one.

Of recent, in return, some members with albinism in the same society also prescribe that since they fall prey to non-albinos then their hunters are also perhaps semi-humans if not actual predators who have transformed from animal society in the wild to human society; as normal human being cannot choose to act mercilessly on Albinos contrary to God’s purpose of their creation.

Apart from Albinos being made prisoners of their own creation but this problem evolves to greater extents of enslaving, putting to bondage and too jailing their families who are forced to keep full time watch of them. This confinement too denies these families their human right of movement and association. This is one of the human species which do not enjoy freedom that their own societies have constitutionalized. The wave of killing seems to have taken high pace than available laws can put control to it and this calls for a review of the same laws to determine their sensitivity on non-albinos than albinos.

This makes the same laws to look silent on Albinos and therefore calls for their instant review or enactment of specific ones for Albinos just before their demography is marginalized. The society must not keep Albinos feel foreigners in their own mother-societies. As any human being, Albinos must enjoy and benefit from all human protection available whether national, cultural or international conventions. Victimization of this race defames and taints both national and cultural status-quo and creates hostility within the same society between their families [which spends a lot for keeping them without direct State subsidy] and their killers.

There is no comprehensive dissimilarity between condemned Albinos and condemned black Africans by apartheid and all forms of segregation across the world. The act of victimizing Albinos if not timely controlled; may ripple-effect to causing social conflict between Albinos, their relatives, their killers and the State. Efforts must be ensured in almost every sector of service delivery to appeal to society to abandon all acts of stigma of all forms against people living with albinism and this must start right from the grass-root upwards. Albinos are the blessings to our societies as they equally provide the societies with required quality human resources for development. The benefits that society should demand from Albinos are already put in their services to the societies and not that the societies can only tape their potentials by victimizing them, an act which is inhumane and which cannot be tolerated at any cost. The curse of killing an Albino and the curse of being Albino [which definitely is a mere myth] which one is deemed most sinful?

Clusters of perceptions in the society have turned an obstacle to the solutions for combating ongoing unlawful contracted manslaughter of Albinos. Public awareness is a very powerful tool to narrow down this predicament but unfortunately it has not been given the maximum attention it deserves. The costs associated with public education on albinism are never bigger than the costs of not having this kind of education at all.

It does not require Scotland Yard or FBI to walk in to book the culprits for this felony that is an insult to God the creator, an insult to the nation, an insult to the Albinos themselves, an insult to the church, synagogue and the mosque, an insult to the families blessed with Albinos, an insult to the UN for its Convention on Human Rights Charter which many nations have ratified. The good people who have stood against molestation of Albinos are still confident with local State instruments to deliver justice without hypocrisy and without demand for assistance from beyond the borders. Some instruments of justice do their duties to combat this lawlessness but some do not for reasons of blackmail which halts processes of justice provision, an act which exhibits that the bureaucracy of the society grapples force-majeure in handling this situation which undresses it.

Albinos are confined indoor for fear of invasion, an act which denies them right to free movement, right to association with people other than their own relatives who keeps vigil with them enclosed like halfwits. This is dehumanizing them and is definitely unacceptable to even an average man. Why should Albinos be made to miss the world external to their rooms of confinement? Which laws of the societies with Albinos provides for this? Why should Albinos miss education, why should Albinos miss recreational sites and times? Why should Albinos fail to visit medical facilities for fear of being hunted by human-beasts? Why should good men and women and relatives fear visiting homes of Albinos and provide in-kind support just for fear of being blacklisted should an Albino disappear or have his/her body parts chopped off for cannibals? Which kind of value of society is this? Why should love be shown to families without Albinos and neglect those with Albinos?

Victimization of Albinos is yet another new form of terrorism conducted by Albino’s human-vultures for illegal sorcery projects. Suffice to maintain that killers of Albinos also have another version of albinism called brain-albinism without them knowing this. Brain albinism has neither cure nor vaccination yet but can as of now be managed by jail sentences, seclusion from society and or torching or lynching which is also criminal in its nature as available laws do not provide for lynching which is considered a mob action. Why brain-albinism directs its sufferers i.e. Albino killers to conduct these terror acts on Albinos only at night and not in the day light? This makes nature of the problem be quite complex as it will require brain test before justice takes its own course. It is high time for society to declare Albino killing a terror act. Some societies of the world have a provision in their laws for terrorism for shooting dead the suspects/culprits when necessary.
