Police in Rukungiri district is investigating circumstances under which the house of jailed Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) former presidential candidate Kizza Besigye was broken into.
Police says the house was broken into last night by unknown assailants.
However, it’s not yet clear whether anything was stolen from the house or not as police has sealed of the home as a crime scene and not willing to share details on grounds that it will jeopardize its investigations.
On Monday this week, Besigye who was expected to appear before Nakawa Magistrates Court for mention of a treason case he was charged with was not brought to court from Luzira Prison where he’s detained over security fears.
The state wants his case to be mentioned in Luzira Prison.
The case was adjourned to June 15 for mention.
Rukungiri is Dr Besigye’s home district.
