The Uganda Prisons Service has announced a UGX 10 million reward for information leading to the arrest of Anguyo Moses, a prison warder who is the prime suspect in a deadly shooting incident at Uganda Government Prison Kiboga.
According to a press release dated March 9, 2026, the Commissioner General of the Uganda Prisons Service placed the bounty on Warder Anguyo Moses, who is wanted in connection with the fatal shooting that reportedly left four people dead.
Authorities are appealing to the public to provide reliable information that could help security agencies track down and arrest the suspect. The prisons service assured the public that all information shared will be handled with strict confidentiality.
The tragic shooting occurred at Kiboga Prison on February 23 at 10am. It left senior prison officers and the wife of the officer in charge dead. The victims were Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Hope Catherine, Principal Officer Akishuri Bright, and Sarah Ayebare , the spouse of the Officer in Charge. According to Uganda Prisons Service, Warder Anguyo allegedly fled the facility after turning his firearm on his supervisors, killing them. Anguyo allegedly also left a toddler nursing bullet injuries. The toddler succumbed to the injuries bringing the death toll to four.
The statement was issued by Frank Baine Mayanja, the Senior Commissioner of Prisons in charge of Cooperation and Corporate Affairs and spokesperson for the Uganda Prisons Service.
