The Government of Uganda has announced that citizens from 40 countries, including Kenya, will now enjoy visa-free entry when travelling to Uganda. The directive was confirmed on March 11, 2026, by the Uganda Ministry of Internal Affairs through the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control.
Serikali ya Uganda imesema hatua hii inalenga kurahisisha travel process, boost tourism, na kuimarisha diplomatic na economic relations na partner countries.
Among the countries granted visa-free access are East African neighbours Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan na Burundi, jambo ambalo linatarajiwa kuongeza trade, tourism na free movement ya people within the region. Uganda believes this move will strengthen regional cooperation na kufanya safari iwe rahisi zaidi kwa wananchi wa Afrika Mashariki.
The visa-free programme also includes several other African countries such as Ghana, Botswana, Mozambique, Zambia na Zimbabwe, pamoja na some countries outside Africa including Ireland, Singapore, Malaysia na the United Arab Emirates.
Serikali ya Uganda imesisitiza kuwa mpango huu unaonyesha commitment yao ya promoting regional integration, tourism growth na stronger people-to-people connections.
