This advice has been reviewed and reissued with amendments to the Travel Summary (possibility of demonstrations against the coalition-led military operations in Libya) and General - Registering with the British High Commission.
Travel Summary
- The British High Commission have heard that demonstrations may be called against the coalition-led military operations in Libya. These demonstrations normally happen after Friday prayers. We advise all British nationals to avoid any demonstrations or large gatherings of people and to monitor local media for details of future demonstrations
- There is a general threat from terrorism. Attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places frequented by expatriates and foreign travellers.
- Forced ATM withdrawals and robberies, sometimes armed, are increasing, both at remote sites and in urban centres. A number of serious incidents involving British nationals have occurred in and around Dar es Salaam and Arusha. See Safety and Security - Crime.
