October the 13th will be the 50th anniversary of the day the Japanese bombed pearl harbor. A brisk Sunday morning in Hawaii with US troops casually sipping pina colada and those exotic umbrella drinks while playing pool by the beach. A tanned Nicholas gazed into the sky, trying hard to catch a glimpse of the UFOs behind his Armani designer glasses. It was a case of too little too late though when Nicholas and a bunch of hungover marines scampered for cover singing Kumbaya my Lord. The history books will always remind us about that brutal, devastating morning that left by standers in Honolulu trembling. The battle of Okinawa though would prove costly as those tiny little people survived on a thousand calories a day right in the heat of battle. What to do?, squat a fly in Bermuda. Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Anyway, I don’t want to ruin your desert after that scrumptious five course meal at your favorite Michelin star restaurant. Neither do I want to get involved with your little orgy of pleasure or hormonal display of affection. What I do know though is that clubbing could become an expensive and very costly endeavor for those who don’t ponder over the remnants of their bank accounts.Shopping for designer dresses in Paris is for those who can genuinely afford it. Cancelling that weekend getaway to Zanzibar with your friends is not embarrassing if you have to care for your sick child.
Old habits, die hard. The more you spoil your child with all the mannah from heaven, before they repeatedly demonstrate restraint, the more likely they are to squander whatever comes their way. Discipline instilled from early on sets the tone for an adult life where making the right financial choices comes naturally. People who are genuinely disciplined do not need to be supervised or nagged to do what is expected of them.
Anyone, be it a man or a woman can be very disciplined depending on how they’ve learnt to manage their finances over the years. Easy come easy go for the life styles of the rich and the famous. A tight purse, for the man who just simply can’t have enough of their dearly beloved loan shark.
Before I get bombed back to the stone age, there’s probable cause to try and digest this in different light.
Despite being in a relationship, it is understandable if a spouse has personal financial needs outside the ordinary marital commitments. Whether it’s hullabaloo or just plain rhetoric, women are not necessarily more prudent with money than men. A man of substance is probably better than most women in prioritizing the needs of their family without the nitty gritty details leaking to the black market. A woman who just can’t stop shopping could very easily affect the chances of your child going to college.
Nevertheless, when push comes to shove, some characters just can’t be trusted to stick to a combined effort that’ll get the engine rolling. Please prove me wrong. Every dark cloud has a silver lining
