April Fools’ Day is celebrated every year on April 1. It is a day for jokes, pranks, and tricks, but its true origin is not fully known.

One common theory links it to France in the 1500s. When the country changed its calendar in 1582, New Year moved from April to January. Some people did not know about the change and continued celebrating in April. Others made fun of them and called them “April fools.”

Another theory connects the day to ancient Roman festivals where people dressed up and played tricks.

By the 1700s, the tradition had spread to Britain and Scotland. Over time, it spread across the world.

Today, people, companies, and media use the day to share jokes and pranks. It has become a global tradition of humor and light-hearted fun.
