Primary school headteachers and their deputies are set to receive significant salary increases in a move aimed at improving welfare and boosting morale within the education sector, particularly among arts teachers.
Under the new pay structure, headteachers’ salaries will rise from Shs980,000 to Shs1.5 million, while deputy headteachers will see their earnings increase from Shs780,000 to Shs1.3 million.

Officials say the increment is intended not only to improve living conditions for school administrators but also to strengthen leadership at the primary school level.
