Lwanga is the third winner of the award taking over from Nicholas Wadada and Allan Okello who scooped it in 2020 and 2019 respectively.
The former Vipers SC skipper dedicated the award to his fallen sister Agnes Nakityo; “This is for my late sister, Agnes Nakityo.”
“I dedicate it to her, she should have been here to see me succeed and take awards,” an emotional Lwanga said.
“It would not have been possible to take this award without the support of my family, coaches, teammates, and most importantly, the fans.”
“This means a whole lot to me and I can only work harder to better my game,” Lwanga noted before adding.
“I sincerely thank the management of Football256 for the recognition. It is an honour that they recognize local talent and hard work.”
To take home the accolade, Lwanga had clinched the domestic double at Simba after winning the Tanzania Premier League and FA Cup trophies.
He also helped the Tanzanian powerhouse sail as far as the quarterfinals of the 2020/21 CAF champions league before being eliminated by Kaizer Chiefs courtesy of a 4-3 aggregate scoreline.
The champions league journey included topping group A with 13 points ahead of giants Al Ahly who garnered 11.
However, Lwanga and Simba have kick-started the 2021/22 Tanzania Premier League in a quieter fashion, occupying second place with 11 points after five matches, four adrift of Young Africans who are on 15.
