Speaking during his handover in Kampala on March 24, 2026, Kasuja expressed concern over the state of the government’s communication hub, describing it as under-resourced and ill-prepared for the demands of modern media.
He revealed that the centre lacks adequate equipment, including reliable sound systems and sufficient cameras, sometimes forcing staff to borrow or hire essential tools.
Kasuja called on the government to prioritise funding for the Media Centre, saying, “Whoever is responsible for giving us money at the media centre, let’s stop playing games, we need money, we don’t want to be begging you for money, we need this money so that we can do the work we’re supposed to do.”
He attributed the challenges to years of inconsistent funding, noting that such limitations have undermined the centre’s ability to effectively communicate government programmes and respond to the fast-paced digital media environment.
To address the gaps, Kasuja outlined plans to transform the Media Centre into a fully equipped and professional communications hub, with a focus on upgrading infrastructure, improving equipment, and strengthening staff capacity.
The overhaul comes at a time when Uganda’s communication landscape is rapidly evolving, increasing the demand for timely and effective public information dissemination.
