Its becoming hot as no body thought it would be. It seems as a planned provocation. I was thinking and I didn't got any better answer than the conclusion I will put below.
Faith is not part of constitution. Our constitution grants freedom of worship as long as that worship does not violate constitution itself. Who should slaughter is a faith matter where the government should have avoided interfering. As a matter of fact, the Magogoni should have been vocal and unequivocal on the matter that as long as you don't shove on someone else your faith: you are fine. Kikwete and all his executive should have made clear that it is unconstitutional to force on religious matters, especially using state machinery. In fact Eng. Ndikilo was supposed to be fired for his unconstitutional decisions.
Unfortunately the matter seems to be upside down. The defenders of constitution have turned self appointed defiant of it. The people who were supposed to be under constitution are trampling it. It raises more question with no answer whatsoever!
Given the premises, it makes any thinking person arrive at same conclusion: this is a pretext behind a big agenda! There might be a terrible thing planned and this is being used as a point of provocation. Or might even be a smokescreen. What agenda it is? I don't know but I can guess that.
Look here!
Why would the president be hesitant to fire Ndikilo for breaking the constitution he [the president] swore he would defend? Why was he not straight to the point that matters of faith are not for government and everybody is free to do whatever (including slaughtering animals) as his faith directs as long as he breaks no law in his speech? Why is he hesitant? who is he afraid of? What is in his mind? Under which law is non-Muslim prohibited from slaughtering her/his animal?
The issue that who used to do the slaughtering is a joke, and further the challenge of whether any non-Islamic sacred book commands its followers to do the same is a dunce question. The issue here is the constitution. If the decision is constitutional it is allowable regardless of what convention wisdom shouts or the book says.
The bottom line is this, its the time now the government becomes clear on the agenda, if any behind, this stupid pretext. Let the state make it clear if we follow now constitution or someones thoughts and if the constitution is superior, why are they hesitating to defend it.
If the agenda is to make another Rwanda, let us know so that we may prepare. If the agenda is to make this Nation Islamic state, why hiding under such pretext? Come out and just do it: suspend the constitution and declare Tanzania an Islamic state. If the agenda is to divide Tanzanians on religious basis, don't end with this: Make Hindus the only official businessmen and Pagans as only people qualifying as priests and Imams in this nation. Don't end here, clearly state that only atheists can run for presidency and so on....
They might all be bad guesses but its a possibility!
Warning: If you do not understand it, read it again and again!
The situation is not only weird but also disgusting.
[I Hope Mods will not merge with any thread as thid deals with agenda behind pretext and not the event themselves nor its impact]

Imekuwa habari mtaani kiasi ambacho hakuna aliyetarajia itakuwa.
