Silvio Berlusconi has been found guilty and sentenced to seven years in jail for practicing corruption in office and
paying for sex with underage girl.

The Italian court also has banned the 76 years old from the public office which means he has no right to contest for any public post.

Berlusconi denies the charge for having sex with young girl Karima El Mahroug who exposed him to secure her release from police custody on a separate occasion.

In May 2010, the then-prime minister called a Milan police station to instruct officials to release El Mahroug, who was being held on suspicion of stealing a bracelet.


A Brazilian prostitute who lived with El Mahroug had called the premier on his mobile phone to tell him she had been arrested.

Mr Berlusconi could still appeal for the sentence and it could take years.
