Narok Senator Ledama Olekina has pledged to support young adults seeking elective positions in 2027, but lacks adequate resources.
In a statement shared on his social media pages on Tuesday, March 24, Ledama called on young Kenyans interested in elective leadership to step forward in a move aimed at nurturing them into a new generation of political leaders.
Ledama states that qualified applicants should have academic credentials in subjects like finance, social development, political science, or communication.
However, the legislator clarified that he is targeting youths specifically from five counties: Narok, Kajiado, Samburu, Laikipia, and Marsabit.
He highlighted that the initiative's goal is to assist potential leaders in turning their ideas into successful political campaigns by providing advice on navigating Kenyan politics, which often requires a lot of resources.
His offer goes with an increasing number of young people expressing interest in running for office in the upcoming general election.
Youth-led civic engagement initiatives have gained traction thanks in large part to social media mobilisation; the now-viral "Niko Kadi" movement is urging more young Kenyans to register to vote.
