Saudis Told to 'Stop Treating African Women Like Prostitutes'

THE HUMILIATION of the African woman is now complete, thanks to the Saudi Arabians who have treated Nigerian women like prostitutes on the annual Hajj to Mecca.

One thousand Nigerian women have been refused entry into the country and held at the airport in Jeddah, awaiting deportation. They have not been given accommodation fit for humans and have had to share just four toilets at the airport for over a week now.

This is an outrageous situation. The Saudi authorities, who claim to be non-discriminatory when it comes to welcoming millions of Muslims to take up their obligation to visit Mecca once in their lifetime, have lost the plot. The plot being the agreement between them and the Nigerian authorities that they would waive their otherwise strict rules that single woman unaccompanied by a close relative are not allowed to visit the country.

Apparently most of the 1,000 Nigerian women did arrive at the airport accompanied by their husbands, but their husbands were separated from them by the authorities at passport control, because they did not have the same surnames as their wives. How many of us have the same names as our wives?

I have been married for yonks and my wife has always been Ms Carroll Thompson, queen of lovers' rock, whilst I have always been Mr Dotun Adebayo, king of the jokers. It does not mean that we are not married. You would have thought that the authorities in a polygamous society like Saudi Arabia would understand.

Mentally because it is so easy to ask every married person to bring their marriage certificates. I am sure therein there are names of both man and wife. I am so furious, but also I am angry at our AFRICAN LEADERS WHO DO NOT CARE AND HAVE NO SENSE OF STRIVING FOR AFRICAN DIGNITY. Africans are being treated like animals in Egypt, Libya, Mauritania, Sudan and the mf.. do not raise a hue, even a simple protest. If anything, tomorrow Vasco da Gama will be in Qatar.... with his inevitable bowl!

Guardian.co.uk: Saudi Arabian officials have deported 241 Nigerian women from the annual hajj pilgrimage, and are threatening to send back hundreds of others said to be travelling without male chaperones, prompting a diplomatic row between the two countries.

Nigerian officials responsible for organising the hajj said three planes were turned back from the Saudi city of Medina, while a further 1,000 women were held in detention centres in Mecca, some for up to five days. Under Saudi law, women are minors who require permission from a male relative to work, leave the country or, in some cases, receive medical treatment.

But Nigeria’s Saudi ambassador, Abubakar Shehu Bunu, said it had been agreed Nigerians could perform the rites as long as they were accompanied by local officials once they were in Saudi Arabia. Bunu has lodged a formal complaint with Saudi authorities.

Many of the women who were sent back arrived in tears, some carrying babies strapped to their backs. “We are all so sad. I used my last savings to top up what my cousin provided to pay for a hajj seat, only to be treated like infidels who are not fellow Muslims,” said Halima Muhammad, who spent two days in a detention centre.

A woman is not a human being in Arab countries no matter how you will try to put it. Women will struggle for years to be equal to a house cat but they will never make it. How sorry I feel for them. In this countries when you give birth to a girl its like a curse. See how they struggle even for a small nonsensical right to exercise or play sports not to mention they cannot vote or be elected, drive, work e.t.c If I was an Arabic woman in those countries I would leave or die trying.

Now do not mention the suffering that black women are undergoing as house girls in Arabia. Recently Kenya airlifted over 400 women from slavery, but some were already dead and refrigerated,maybe to be consumed later.

Mind you when this happens in Africa it is a crime punishable by law. When it happens in Arab countries it is the accepted norm. The law demands it. That is why if you want suicide bombers you get them by the truckload. Their lives are not worth living.
