RwandAir Gets New Boss as Mirenge Bows Out

The Rwandan government has removed the head of national carrier RwandAir.

John Mirenge, who oversaw the transformation of the airline will be temporarily replaced by Col Chance Ndagano who will serve in acting capacity.

This was revealed in a cabinet decision following a regular sitting at Urugwiro Village chaired by President Paul Kagame.

The cause of Mirenge’s removal from office remains unclear. John Mirenge has been at the helm of RwandAir since 2010 and is credited with steering an ambitious expansion plan. His exit came in the week RwandAir made its maiden flight to Mumbai, India, and announced a route to Harare, Zimbabwe.

Lt Col Sylvere Munyaneza will serve as Operations Director while Makolo Manzi Yvonne takes over as Deputy Corporate Affairs boss.

Col. Chance Ndagano has been a judge at the military tribunal and is also the board vice chairperson of the Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority (RCAA)., Lt Col. Munyaneza replaces Jean Paul Nyirubutama, who was appointed to the airline’s board. while Makolo Manzi Yvonne has been chief marketing officer at MTN Rwanda.Source: RwandAir, Higher Education Council get new leaders
