Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is in Kenya for a three-day state visit that will incude bilateral talks with Uhuru Kenyatta.
Erdogan and his wife Emine were received by the President upon arrival at about 11am on Thursday.
After Kenya and Turkey's national anthems were played, members of the defence forces fired 21 cannon shots. The Turkish President then inspected a guard of honour.
Other dignitaries who received Erdogan included First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, Chief of Defence Forces Gen Samson Mwathethe and cabinet secretaries.
The Turkish President signed the visitor's book upon entry into State House and joined Uhuru in his office for one-on-one talks. The two Presidents will later lead their delegations in bilateral talks.
After the bilateral talks, Erdogan will head to the United Nations Office in Gigiri, where he will be received by the UNEP Executive director.
He and Uhuru will a Kenya-Turkey Business Forum at Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel later in the afternoon. In the evening, Erdogan will be honoured with a state dinner.
The Turkish leader earlier laid a wreath at the mausoleum of Kenya's first president Mzee Jomo Kenyatta. He was received at the location by Mwathethe and National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi.
