Cashmere and silk are not known for being especially moisture-wicking or sweat-absorbing materials, but Putin didn't let a little sogginess sour a perfectly good post-workout brunch of grilled meat and tea. One can only hope the president followed the very particular care instructions for the garments later. A $3,220 gym outfit may seem excessive to most, but it's a choice that feels in keeping with Putin's taste for the gratuitous finer things. The man reportedly has a watch collection worth nearly $700,000 , from which he's known to unceremoniously give away a timepiece to a pal on a whim. One report found he owned a 700-car garage filled with black Mercedes, and a $76,000 toilet on a presidential jet.
In context, then, a sweaty set of Loro Piana cashmere seems reasonable. If they're an incentive to do those pull-downs before his next topless horseback-riding photo-op, then the flossy threads are indeed a sound investment.
