The African Conservation Tillage Network (ACT) is a Pan-African not for profit organization built on and driven by the values and principles required to harness indigenous African energies, inspiration and commitment to lead and contribute to Africa’s own development. The thrust of ACT is to add value through strategic partnership in the identification, adaptation and scaling up of conservation agriculture principles and practices.

Job Profile:

The Program officer will provide technical support in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of ACT programs.

Responsibilities:
The incumbent will:
  • Under the coordinator, provide day to day support in project activities as the extension officer.
  • Serve as the ACT liaison person between farming communities and technology sources.
  • Coordinate the process of documentation and dissemination of projects technologies developed by ACT and its implementing agencies or partners.
  • Together with the information officer, maintain active communication with ACT stakeholders through the development of policy briefs, meetings and other forums.
  • Manage interaction on conservation agriculture (CA) technology promotions with stakeholders and maintain database on CA impact.
  • Set up trial sites for the promotion of CA technologies and organize for demonstration, field days, stakeholder visits, Exchange tours and agricultural shows.
  • Participate in the development of project workplans, and implementation of project activities.
  • Develop tools to monitor and evaluate project activities. Submitting progress report on project activities based on project and organization reporting needs.
  • Participate in the development of concept notes and project proposals assisting in develop of the necessary networks to support resource mobilization and partnerships.

Educational qualifications & Experience:


· A first level university Bsc. degree in Agriculture or any other related field.
· The candidate has at least 3 years experience in development environment as technical officer.
· Working experience and/or specific knowledge of the African Development context is an important advantage.

Language requirement:


Proficiency in English and Kiswahili is a requirement.

Tenure of Appointment:
The initial appointment will be for 1 year including a 3 months probation period with possibility of renewal. Contract extension will be subject to performance and availability of funding.
