President Samia Suluhu Hassan stated that in 2025, Tanzania held its seventh general election, which was highly successful, including achieving 44 percent female representation in parliament and being funded entirely with domestic resources.

Despite these successes, President Samia also acknowledged challenges that arose, such as network shutdowns and disruptions affecting ambassadors, and she pledged to take measures to ensure such situations do not happen again.

“To our partners, the international community, and visitors living in Tanzania, I extend my apologies for the confusion, service interruptions, and network outages you experienced. I assure you that we are committed to protecting your safety and ensuring that this does not happen again,” President Samia said.

She added that the government recognizes the difficulties that occurred on election day and afterward. She emphasized that it was important to intervene to safeguard peace and security in accordance with the Constitution.

President Samia noted that democracy is a journey of growth, and every such journey comes with its challenges, making it clear that no single rule in the world can fully prevent such unique difficulties.
