(Copied from somewhere on Zambians views and feelings about our own Prsident, HE JPM).

It is a wonder that every time, the name of Magufuli pops up on international headlines, it is always coated with hope and pride that Africa still has people who believe in offering credible public service to their citizens and who demand honesty and integrity in leadership.

One can wonder whether in this era and time in Africa when everyone is rushing for quick riches through politics and being closer to ruling political elites, Africa could produce a president like President Magufuli.

From the time he was elected President of Tanzania, he has exhibited exceptional leadership qualities and has excited many and not only in his country in his effort to restore order, dignity, integrity and honest in the public and public service but the entire world.

This is a president who has fought corruption or at least seen to be fighting corruption and prudent use of public resources both in public and private sectors. One of my Tanzanian friend remarked: "Our hope which had gone with President Julius Mwalimu Nyerere is slowly being re-birthed in President Magufuli".

Today, President Magufuli is again in the news not for bad things but for doing good thing that of-fighting dishonest in academics-sacking over 10,000 civil servants over fake certificates perhaps used to get jobs. This is incredibly good and unheard of in Africa where dishonest and lack of integrity seem to be part of our skin and whoever tries to provide effective checks and balances to such excesses is labelled partisan, foreign funded or charged with treason or worse still slapped with a vote of no confidence. That is the real of Africa.

It is not late for Zambian leadership to draw lessons from President Magufuli and also other institutions who have employed people to verify such qualifications.

The Tanzania scenario may not be far from being worse in Zambia as already exhibited in the run-up to the August 11, 2016 General Elections and National Referendum where the Examination Council of Zambia (ECZ) caught and exposed several people with fake Grade 12 school certificates. The ECZ only ended at offering lips threats while the political leadership never even treated such reports as a big issue in Zambia. Those people's fate is unknown to-date. Perhaps they were "forgiven" and let scotfree. The police also seem to have not taken any keen interest on this matter.

With that exposure just at political level, how many individuals in the public and private service have acquired jobs using fake certificates especially with rumours of an existence of Matero University that offer such certificates?

Why are our leaders seem to be pushed to promote honest, integrity and ethics in the political, private and/or public services? It is time we get a leaf from President Magufuli.
