President Obama's trip to Africa is little more than a public relations stunt to a continent desperate for his help, Lawrence K. Freeman, editor of Executive Intelligence Review magazine, told RT.

RT: What can we expect from Obama's three-nation tour, do you think?

Lawrence Freeman: There's not going to be much accomplished. The purpose of the trip is not to help the African people to develop these African nations. This is a very calculated, glorified public relations tour to three countries and most people in Africa are going to realize, and do realize already, that this country is doing nothing to help their continent. And what they do know is that
the overthrow of Colonel Gaddafi, led by Obama and NATO, has been a catastrophe for north and West Africa in supporting various elements that have now allowed the destabilization of many of these countries, especially with the arms and the flow of Tuaregs and terrorists coming out of Libya. So the South African people are not pleased or happy with President Obama and he's
going to offer absolutely nothing except maybe entice private sector companies to make a few investments. But this is really pathetic in terms of what Africa needs.

RT: To what extent is this more about China's influence there?

LF: Well there is this silly notion in the US that somehow China is our competitor in Africa. But in fact what China has done over the last recent period, five to ten years, is invest massively and construct all types of infrastructure projects throughout many African countries totaling tens of billions of dollars per year. So the US had to stop doing that 40 years ago.
The US does not build infrastructure. The US does not provide government-backed investment in the kinds of projects that are necessary for the people of Africa. We've done nothing, for example, to develop water management in the African Sahel.
We've done nothing to develop the Arab culture capability of these regions and therefore you have the spread of terrorism, the spread of insurgency because you have these alienated youth who see no future because their economies are dying. In
fact Obama's done less than George Bush and less than Bill Clinton even though he's called the Son of Africa. So he has a record of failure and in fact he's been supporting destabilization, such as the overthrow of Gaddafi, which has actually worsened conditions throughout Africa.

RT: In terms of visits, he had one brief visit to Ghana in 2009 and now this short visit. Why only that, why not more?
LF: He's not really concerned. In 2009 he spent less than 24 hours and made one speech in Ghana. Here he's visiting three countries - Senegal, South Africa, and Tanzania - and avoiding going to other countries such as Nigeria, such as Mali, many other countries that are in the spotlight right now. He doesn't have anything to offer them, the United States - the transatlantic
community of Europe and the United States, the financial system, is collapsing. We see this throughout Europe and the United States, dying economically, politically, and culturally. We have no vision, we have no future. Obama cares
nothing about the welfare of the South African people as he cares nothing about the welfare of the people of the United States. In fact he's supporting a British policy of genocide throughout Africa by allowing destabilization and by allowing hunger and shortages of food and medicine to kill Africans in large numbers, and this is something that could be corrected and changed if we had a policy to do that.

I am real interested to see the results of this visit, my be the united states of East Africa.

At yesterdays press conference Obama said Americas primary intrest in Africa is not oil and gas but to add value to Africas products via partnership with American business.

Freedom is not fees my friend and sometimes you need to see the blood before you see the freedom. I am not going to support the so called culture in which leaders are training their sons to be next leaders with no people support. A system in which woman is like animal they can not drive, work, treat, educate and love whoever they want!. Many people want to move and live in USA why?!!.

Misaada ikizidi hudumaza akili, kwa nini Obama aifikirie Afrika wakati yeye ni mmarekani?
Africa for African we must be creative.

Obama to unveil broad African electrical power initiative

Obama to unveil broad African electrical power initiative

By Mark Felsenthal

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - Pointing to Africa's crippling lack of electrical power, President Barack Obama is due to announce on Sunday a $7 billion initiative over five years to double access to power in sub-Saharan Africa.

"We see this as the next phase in our development strategy and a real focal point in the president's agenda going forward," deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes told reporters travelling with the president.

Obama is midway through a three-country tour of Africa and is due to give what aides bill as his fullest description of his vision for the U.S. relationship with the continent on Sunday.

The president has chosen historically resonant locations for the address, and is due to speak at the University of Cape Town after touring the prison on Robben Island. Robert F. Kennedy's 1966 speech at the university linked the struggles against apartheid and the U.S. civil rights movement and was seen as giving encouragement to the movement, while Robben Island is where anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 of his 27 years in jail.

The president will cite South Africa's long struggle to defeat apartheid and the U.S. civil rights movement's success in overcoming racial inequality as models of movements that brought about change in the face of daunting obstacles, aides said. He will call on young Africans to summon similar energy to complete the work of those movements and to firmly establish economic growth, democratic government, and stable societies across the continent.

SIGNATURE PROGRAM

Obama has been faulted for lacking a grand program to benefit Africa like the HIV/AIDS initiative launched by President George W. Bush or the broad reductions of trade barriers achieved by President Bill Clinton.

Many Africans have been disappointed at what they see as Obama's hands-off approach to the continent, noting that his first extended trip the continent has not come until his second term in office despite his African ancestry. Obama's father was a native of Kenya.

The president's aides say he has been held back by the need to wind down two wars and to right the U.S. economy after the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.

Despite severe U.S. budget constraints, the power initiative could provide Obama with just such a signature program.

DARKNESS BY NIGHT

Experts agree that the lack of electricity is a tremendous hindrance to Africa's advancement.

"Africa is largely a continent of darkness by night," said an official at a multilateral agency who spoke on condition of anonymity. "Every which way you look at this, Africa is behind the curve and pays more."

Roughly two-thirds of sub-Saharan Africa lacks power, a level that rises as high as 85 percent in rural areas, White House aide Gayle Smith said.

Lack of power inhibits business investment, prevents children from studying after dark, and makes it harder to keep vaccines from spoiling in rural areas, she said.

The United States will initially work with Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria and Tanzania to develop electric power generation, officials said. It will also cooperate with Uganda and Mozambique on oil and gas management.

The program will draw on a range of U.S. government agencies to achieve its goals. For example, the U.S. Overseas Private Investment Corp will commit as much as $1.5 billion in finance and insurance to help U.S. companies manage the risks associated with the projects.

Similarly, the U.S. Export-Import Bank will make up to $5 billion available to support U.S. exports to develop power projects, the officials said.

The private sector will also be involved. Officials said General Electric Co has committed to power generation projects in Tanzania and Ghana, officials added.

The president's trip has taken him to Senegal and South Africa and will wind up in Tanzania on Monday and Tuesday. Although concerns over the ailing health of anti-apartheid hero Mandela have overshadowed much of the trip, the president has sounded the theme of Africa's economic potential at every stop.

In keeping with that emphasis, Obama will also announce that he plans to hold a summit of sub-Saharan African leaders in Washington next year.

"It's something other countries have done," Rhodes said. "What we want to do is continue the kind of high-level engagement we've had on this trip."

Why snould he have? He is an American and not African.. African vision should be determined by Afriican themselves.

Absolutely! Why would Obama have vision for Africa? And for your information it is even better to deal with a white rather than half white. These ones normally look down upon Africans very much. If you don't believe.me go to the UK or USA. The blacks there will not even want to associate sith you. Some even go to the extent of thinking all Africans are infected by the HIVirus.

Obama has ‘no vision, no future’ planned for Africa

Executive Intelligence Review lengo lake ni kuwafichua New World Order conspirators, the people who want to enslave the world. Ni moja ya magazeti ambayo Hatton alikuwa anayakuu sana alipokuwa anaandika kuhusu New World Order katika Phoenix Journals. I hope waandishi wa habari watakuwa macho kuona if any human robotoids have come to town, kwa kulinganisha picha za wageni wetu,na past photographs of these people.
