Nine-man Gor Mahia put a brave fight to defeat visiting side Petro Atletico by a solitary goal and advance to the quarters of the Caf Confederation Cup. It was not going to be a child's play considering the importance of the game; either of the two sides could have made it to the last eight by getting maximum points.
K'Ogalo were aiming at avenging the 2-1 defeat suffered in the first leg away and make it past the group stages for the first time and they also needed to be tight at the back to ensure they did not concede.
Gor finished top of a highly contested Group finishing ahead of Egyptian giants Zamalek
