A Kenyan farmhouse has made the list of the priciest and most luxurious residences in the world after it was featured in a publication released by property management firm Knight Frank.
Uligani House in Nanyuki was ranked amongst the most desirable developments in the world this year by International View 2017, a publication for latest premium property within Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and America and the Caribbean.
The $2.95 million (Sh295 million) property sits on 81.4 acres and features a four-bedroom main house, three guest cottages and a staff quarter that can accommodate five people.
Property listed on the annual index are said to be of the finest quality.
The remainder expansive land was reported to be ideal for further residential development and commercial farming.
The residence, located against the backdrop of Mt Kenya, nine kilometres from Nanyuki town, represents a shift of high-end development from Nairobi to discreet neighbourhoods preferred by the super-rich as holiday and retirement destinations.
“Before a property is listed it goes through a rigorous process to ensure that it makes international appeal and Uligani House met these standards. The property’s location is perfect as Nanyuki is now a hotspot because of its climate, accessibility, numerous activities and as a quiet neighbourhood,” said Anthony Havelock, head of agency, Knight Frank.
Other property featured in the report include Chiawa Farm a 21,396-acre commercial land with a private airstrip in Zambia, Constantia Upper an upmarket residential development in South Africa and The Royal Atlantis Residences in United Arab Emirates.
