Other countries in africa give city status to any brick building surrounded by iron sheet ramshackles. In other countries around africa, Kisii town would be have been a city like 10 years ago.
Nakuru deserves a city status, but I know the business community in Nakuru does not want that because it comes with higher levies tolled on small businesses and other higher fees on licensing.
Nakuru town alone has about 6 big malls including the new kshs 2 billion mall belonging to egerton university pension scheme. Nakuru will get an international airport soon and it will be the second urban centre after Nairobi to get an elevated highway after the Nairobi-Mau summit expressway is completed.
