Nakasongola District has imposed an indefinite ban on livestock movement following a Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) outbreak that has killed 55 cows and affected about 1,300 animals.
The affected areas include Wabinyonyi, Kakooge, Nakitoma, Nabiswera and Lwampanga sub-counties.
Authorities say livestock trucks will not be allowed to load, offload or pass through major transit routes in the district.
The quarantine is expected to affect farmers and traders, with some families relying on livestock sales to meet household needs, including school expenses.
