Program: Equal Rights Project (ERP)
Job Title: Internship/ Volunteer
Readers/Note-takers for students with Disabilities and Special Needs (58 Posts).
Equal Rights to Quality Education background
Our Equal Rights Project (2014-2019) is designed to bring about lasting change in ten districts in Tanzania - Ngorongoro, Mvomelo, Manyovu, Chunya, Makete, Temeke, Sikonge, Ulanga, kilindi and Pemba. The project will work in 24 primary schools and 17 Secondary schools. For five years the project is expected to improve school conditions for Student with special needs up to 26,000 primary schools and 23,000 secondary schools. Qualifications:
Applicant must be a holder of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or an Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE), Certificate and Diploma courses, good command in English, and must have the ability to work with Students with Disabilities and Special Needs. Knowledge and skills in Computer, Braille writing and sign language will be an added advantage.
We have established Volunteer and Internship Programmes for 12 years. In this programme, the qualified Candidates will get an opportunity to Volunteer and train with us for a period of 6 months, after which they get absorbed into our full time staff (depending on their individual performance). The purpose of this programme is to provide opportunity for people to Volunteer, train and gain skills and expertise.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. To read and take notes on assigned reading materials for visually impaired and deaf students;
2. Fetching reading materials from the internet and library for the students;
3. To guide the students with physical challenges to different parts of the College e.g. Lecture rooms and outside the College;
4. To provide the students with disabilities with an accurate and full account of the information conveyed in lectures or classes and even outside the classes;
5. To work in a helpful and flexible manner, maintaining confidentiality at all times, and;
6. To perform any other duties that may be assigned by the relevant authorities.
Benefits
