Brittany Murphy's Husband Found Dead Brittany Murphy's Husband Found Dead In LA British-born screenwriter Simon Monjack died just five months after the death of his wife, police Sergeant Louie Lozano told the LA Times. He said the cause of death was unknown, adding: "We have detectives at the scene. They are conducting their investigation. Once we have further information, we will provide it." LA's fire department had responded to an emergency call for an "unspecified medical aid request" at the property on Sunday, according to force spokesman Brian Humphrey. Mr Monjack was later pronounced dead, police sources said. Murphy died of pneumonia complicated by an iron deficiency, anaemia and multiple drug intoxication on December 20, 2009. Coroner's officials said Murphy had gone into sudden cardiac arrest because of "drug intake". Her death was classified as an accident. Murphy's film credits include: Clueless; Girl Interrupted; 8 Mile; Just Married; Little Black Book; Sin City; The Dead Girl; and Across the Hall. She also voiced Gloria the penguin in the 2006 animated film Happy Feet. After her death, Monjack blamed Hollywood, saying film bosses had "blood on their hands". He said Murphy was devastated just days before she died when an offer to reprise her role in the Happy Feet sequel was withdrawn.
