Kenyans are now resorting to masking their number plates while over speeding to avoid receiving tickets for traffic rule violations from NTSA.

Some motorists are reportedly resorting to covering or obscuring their vehicle registration number plates while speeding in an attempt to evade detection by the National Transport and Safety Authority's (NTSA) automated traffic enforcement system.

The practice has emerged following the rollout of intelligent traffic cameras that automatically detect speeding and other traffic violations by capturing a vehicle's registration details before generating electronic penalty notices. By masking their number plates, offending drivers seek to prevent the cameras from identifying their vehicles and linking them to traffic offences.
