Motorists using Entebbe International Airport could spend less time waiting at parking entry and exit points following an upgrade of the parking payment system by the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA).

The new system uses artificial intelligence (AI)-powered number plate recognition to automatically identify vehicles, making parking access and payment more efficient.

It also introduces flexible digital payment options, including mobile money, allowing motorists to pay more conveniently while reducing delays associated with traditional payment methods.

The upgrade is expected to ease congestion, particularly during peak travel periods when passenger traffic at the airport increases.

By automating vehicle identification and simplifying payments, UCAA aims to improve traffic flow and make parking more convenient for travellers, airport visitors and people dropping off or picking up passengers.
