Late Edward Ngoyai Lowassa (70), retired Prime Minister of Tanzania passed away peacefully on February 10th, 2024, with his affectionate family by his bedside. His departure is completely unwelcomed, and we are deeply saddened!
Born in 1953 at Monduli District of Arusha region of Tanzania, Hon. Edward lived his rambunctious young life with his relatives along with many friends neighborhoods. Since his early childhood, he was a natural leader, showing excellent leadership qualities and was always surrounded by friends, Mr Laanyuni Sunni Laizer a close friend of the late Lowassa at tender age has confirmed.
Elder Edwards Life history we now celebrate, reveals that he moved from a pastoral community through schooling to becoming an army officer, successful leader, and a great politician worth of the tittle!
Hon. Edward Lowassa had a strong willpower personality, but he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. What a humble individual, a soft-spoken and true gentleman and a man with integrity. Someone who always had a shy smile on his face, always ready to lend a helping hand at needy times. He was generous, loyal, and brave. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all of his life experiences; army officer, administrator, Politician, Minister, and Prime Minister.
Hon. Lowassa will be remembered for many exceptional leadership accomplishments of his life time. Tanzanians mourn his demise, yet celebrate milestones he left us in education, distribution of Lake Victoria water to Shinyanga and other regions, his timely response to unreliable electric power supply, his devoted desire to peacefully resolve boarder conflict with Malawi the list is endless! His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with and those he reached but never met.
Hon. Lowassa was a hero of endurance, who practically showed politician a sense of leadership accountability when assuredly resigned from a Prime Minister Position and humbly remained a Member of Parliament in 2008. He truly loved this country and if you knew him, you real knew it!
When his tribulation time came, he carried himself with dignity, strength, and full of love for those who went before him. He unexpectedly instilled a political desire to calm down at times of distress! Hon. Edward Ngoyai you will be missed dearly.
A celebration of life will occur with determined details!
