Mbarara North MP under investigation over alleged academic forgery

Mbarara North Division MP Christopher Bakashaba is under investigation over alleged academic forgery linked to his former employment at the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA).

Deputy Inspector General of Government (IGG) Dr Patricia Okiria says investigations into academic qualifications at UCAA have resulted in an MP being required to refund salary earned during a 13-year stint at the authority.

Although Okiria did not name the MP, New Vision reports that Bakashaba has been asked to refund the money he earned during his employment at UCAA.

The allegations relate to the academic qualifications Bakashaba reportedly presented when he joined the authority.

The investigations are ongoing.
