Kenya Ports Authority will conduct a lifestyle audit on employees at the Mombasa office to weed out corrupt officials.

Chairman Marsden Madoka said the audit will target senior managers to establish the source of their wealth and punish those found to be corrupt.

Mr Madoka said this will be in line with the board’s commitment to ensuring that corruption is rooted out at the parastatal and other agencies that participate in the clearance of cargo.

“We are going to start this exercise soon, but we will do it in such a manner that nobody will feel victimised,” he said.

He noted that managers who were sacked will also be investigated and added they were waiting for intelligence reports to enable them initiate investigations.

On Tuesday, Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia sacked four senior managers namely Captain Khamis Twalib (operations), Muthoni Gatere (legal services), Justus Nyarandi (corporate services) and Mohamed Morowa (head of security).

Gichiri Ndua who was Managing Directorwas also sent on leave pending expiry of his term.

The sackings followed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s directive that cartels should be dismantled at the key facility.
