Following the ban of vendors along different streets on Kampala, KCCA embarks in the move to organize the Boda Boda industry.
The Kampala capital City Authorities(KCCA) plans to ban unregistered Boda Boda from accessing the five city division of Nakawa, Rubaga, Kawempe, Makindye and Kampala Central.
This will be actualized once the Kampala City transport regulatory plan is implemented, unregistered Boda Bodas will not be allowed into the Kampala central business district
KCCA officials say this move is intended to organise the Boda Boda sector and restore sanity across the city
KCCA shall gazette 929 Boda stages across the city divisions and accommodate 27,870 registered Boda according to the officials.
However in 2020, cabinet approved the boda boda free zone and recommended banning boda boda from the city though the plan was never actualized, it was a dream that has yet come true. officials attributes the failure to absence of a policy frame work that could actualize the plan.
According to the Uganda Revenue Authority(URA) Annual data book released in August, it indicates that importation of motorcycle has increased compared to cars as it collects 2.12m on every new motorcycle imported.
