The abduction followed Mr Mukose’s appearance on a radio talk show where he discussed the Constitutional Court’s recent decision to nullify key provisions of the Computer Misuse Act, citing violations of rights and due process.
The Uganda Journalists Association (UJA) condemned the incident, describing it as an attack on press freedom and the safety of media practitioners. The association called for Mukose’s immediate and unconditional release and urged security agencies to provide an explanation regarding the circumstances of his disappearance.
Legal experts and media stakeholders also raised concern over the incident, warning that such actions could have a chilling effect on journalism and freedom of expression in the country.
Mukose is known for hosting political talk shows on DigiTalk Media, where he has previously featured prominent public figures.
