Marekani na Israel zilianzisha mashambulizi dhidi ya Iran siku ya Jumamosi, huku shambulio la kwanza likiripotiwa kutokea karibu na ofisi za Kiongozi Mkuu wa Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Vyombo vya habari vya Iran viliripoti mashambulizi katika maeneo mbalimbali nchini humo, huku moshi ukionekana ukifuka kutoka katika mji mkuu, Tehran.
Rais wa Marekani, Donald Trump, alisema kupitia video aliyochapisha kwenye mitandao ya kijamii kuwa Marekani imeanza operesheni kubwa za kijeshi nchini Iran. Alidai kuwa Iran imeendelea kuendeleza mpango wake wa nyuklia na ina mipango ya kutengeneza makombora yenye uwezo wa kufika Marekani.
Haikufahamika mara moja kama Khamenei mwenye umri wa miaka 86 alikuwa ndani ya ofisi zake wakati wa shambulio hilo, kwani hajaonekana hadharani kwa siku kadhaa huku mvutano kati ya Iran na Marekani ukiendelea kuongezeka.

Israel launched what it called a “preemptive strike” against Iran Saturday morning, according to Defense Minister Israel Katz, as a state of emergency was declared across the country.
The government declared the state of emergency because of the expectation of Iranian retaliation with drones and ballistic missiles.
The U.S. and Israel launched an attack Saturday on Iran, with the first apparent strike happening near the offices of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iranian media reported strikes nationwide, and smoke could be seen rising from the capital.
President Donald Trump said in a video posted on social media that the U.S. had begun “major combat operations in Iran.” He claimed Iran has continued to develop its nuclear program and plans to develop missiles to reach U.S.
It also wasn’t immediately clear whether the 86-year-old Khamenei was in his offices at the time. He hasn’t been seen publicly in days as tensions with the United States have grown. The attack comes as the United States has assembled a vast fleet of fighter jets and warships in the region to try to pressure Iran into a deal over its nuclear program.
