Polisi wa kimataifa , interpol tawi la Tanzania wamemkamata mfanya biashara maarufu raia wa Kenya kwa tuhuma za kujihusisha na ujangili na uhalifu uliovuka mipaka ,hususan mauaji ya tembo .

mtuhumiwa huyo Mohamed Ally Feisal Amekamatwa mjini Dar-Es-Salaam baada ya kusakwa kwa kipindi kirefu kwa makosa hayo ya kimataifa kutoka Dar Regina Mziwanda anaarifu zaidi.

Akitbibitisha kukamatwa kwa mtuhumiwa huyo Bwana Diwani Athumani kutoka kamisheni ya Kurugenzi ya makos aya jinai amesema mtuhumiwa huyo anakabiliwa na tuhuma za kujihusisha na vitendo vya uhalifu wa kimataifa ikiwemo uwindaji wa uliovuka mipaka kimataifa katika nchi mbali mbali)

Bwana Athumani Diwani alieleza kuwa kwa sasa mtuhumiwa huyo anashikiliwa huku upelelezi ukiendelea kujua makosa mengine aliyoyafanya kuhusiana na biashara za bidhaa zitokanazo na Tembo ndani ya Tanzania na katika nchi nyingine za Afrika Mashariki ikiwemo nchi yake ya asili Kenya.

Mohamed Feisal Ally amekuwa akitafutwa kwa muda mrefu kwa tuhuma za uwindaji haramu husani mauaji ya Tembo tatizo ambalo ni kubwa hususani katika ukanda huu wa Afrika Mashariki hasa Kenya na Tanzania ambapo idadi kubwa ya Tembo wamekuwa wakiuawa kila mwaka na kutishia kutoweka kwa viumbe hao.

Fugitive Feisal Ali Mohamed still at large, wanted for allegedly dealing in wildlife trophies

The fight against a poaching got a shot in the arm today after Interpol issued a red notice alert for the Kenyan Feisal Ali Mohamed. Feisal Ali Mohamed, 46, is wanted for allegedly dealing in wildlife trophies and has been a fugitive of the law since early June this year, when an arrest warrant was issued against him by the Kenya police. The warrant was issued in connection to the seizure of 228 tusks and 74 ivory pieces, all weighing over two tonnes at a motor vehicle warehouse in Mombasa. The Kenya wildlife service said at the time that this was the largest ivory seizure this year. The red alert notice is as a result of a petition by wildlife direct presented to the inspector general in august this year. The red alert means that Feisal may be extradited from any Interpol member country he may be hiding in, to face trial in Kenya. If convicted, he is liable to a fine of not less than kshs.20million or life imprisonment.

Police arrest 'most wanted' ivory smuggler in Tanzania

A Kenyan businessman suspected of being behind an international ivory smuggling ring has been arrested in Tanzania.

Police said that Feisal Mohamed Ali was linked to a three tonne haul of elephant tusks seized in the Kenyan city of Mombasa.

Mr Ali had been in hiding for months and was on an Interpol most-wanted list for ivory traffickers.

Elephant poaching has risen across Africa in recent years, fuelled in part by increasing demand from China.

In June, Kenyan police mounted a raid and discovered ivory equivalent to more than 100 poached elephants.

Since then Ali had been on the run, according to the AFP news agency, and was listed as an "environment criminal" by Interpol before his arrest.

The Kenya Wildlife Service says poachers have killed 142 elephants in the country this year.

A spokesman said the figure was down from 302 last year, due in part to anti-poaching laws.

But in Tanzania, where Mr Ali was arrested, around 10,000 elephants were killed last year.

Conservationists say demand from wealthy buyers in China is fuelling the problem.

In November, an environmentalist group accused officials travelling with Chinese President Xi Jinping of going on an ivory shopping spree during a visit to Tanzania.

The delegation reportedly purchased so many products in a local market that prices soared, according to the group's report.

Both Tanzanian and Chinese officials rejected the allegation.

Researchers believe that since 2010 an average of nearly 35,000 elephants have been killed annually in Africa.

They warn that if the rate of poaching continues, the animals could be wiped out in 100 years.
