Government has suspended the issuance of temporary land titles until December following a growing number of public complaints over alleged irregularities in the process.
The suspension comes amid concerns over the issuance of special certificates contrary to established procedures, cases of double titling, irregular billing and other challenges surrounding land administration.
The move is intended to provide authorities with an opportunity to review the process and address the reported irregularities before the issuance of temporary land titles resumes.
The complaints have raised fresh concerns about the integrity of land administration, particularly the risk of multiple claims to the same property and the financial implications of irregular charges imposed on applicants.
Authorities are expected to use the suspension period to strengthen procedures and ensure that future issuance of temporary land titles complies with established requirements.
