Gold worth 1.7 billion USD discovered in Kenya

UK firm discovered a high grade gold with an estimated resource of 1.31 million ounces of gold at its mines in Western Kenya.

“This is one of the highest grade projects in Africa today, and we believe that this initial resource is a first step in the delineation of a multi-million ounce high-grade corridor,” said Brad Gordon, the firm’s CEO, in a statement yesterday.

The grade of the gold said to be one of the highest in Africa is estimated to be valued at Sh171 billion ($1.65 billion according to Kenya’s Mining Cabinet Secretary Dan Kazungu.

“The discovery of 1.3 million ounces of gold is an encouraging start to what we hope will ultimately be the discovery of a multi-million ounce gold camp, but 1.3 million ounces on its own is small. For the project to be economically viable, we would need the deposit to be at least two million ounces to three million ounces.” said Brad Gordon, the firm’s CEO, in a statement yesterday according to a report by the Standard.

Hakuna kitu hapo, nilivyosoma tu British company discovered ... nikajua mmeshaliwa, kama ingekuwa Kenyan based comapyn ndiyo imegundua hapo sawa lkn Mzungu? Subirini mashimo tu baada ya dhahabu kuisha!

Ingieni mikataba mizuri ambayo itawezesha wakenya wafaidike kama ilivyo Botswana. Msiige wanaoachiwa mishimo.
Trump amesema sisi waafrka tu wajinga wao wanachukua kila kitu kutoka Afrika

That acacia company has not discovered anything so new per se. As we speak many Kenyans in ikolomani area have been mining albeit at a manual level. Very rudimentary, you should see them washing out the soil to get to the gold. There are so many middle men who buy from them.
I think 170b is small money for a mining extraction extending 10yrs. Royalties at 10% is like 1.7b a year. Any way, its better than nothing.
Alternatively the govt could have formed a company to mine, process and sell. Benefiting both the state and locals. But then again, who would trust the govt plus political interference.

we should change our policies on minerals.. then put up a separate. account...all monies to rhe govt from minerals go straight to. development projects staeting with the local economy where it was discovered, we should have a special investment cometee that neotiates and determine whats the most important things the money should be invested in first
