Finally, Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi has been found, after being missing for 19 days

The NUP Deputy President for Buganda Region has been brought to Butambala Magistrate's Court under tight security after reportedly being dumped at Nateete Police Station.

Kivumbi has also been remanded after being arraigned before the Magistrates’ Court on a charge of incitement to violence. The court adjourned the case to August 11 for further proceedings

Kivumbi had been missing since 11 July, when he was intercepted by armed security operatives near Mpigi Police Station while travelling to Kampala, just a day after securing bail from the International Crimes Division of the High Court. Since then, his family, lawyers, the National Unity Platform, opposition leaders, Members of Parliament, and human rights activists had repeatedly demanded that security agencies reveal his whereabouts or produce him before a competent court.

The matter was also raised in Parliament, while his lawyers successfully sought a habeas corpus order compelling the government to account for his whereabouts.

Leader of the Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi, NUP Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya, and other party leaders are already at the court in solidarity with him.
