As East Africans in Kenya,Uganda,Rwanda and Burundi are celebrating the ushering in of EAC market protocol,Tanzanians are busy whining about this new dawn we have.Apart from few sensible ones I have talked t, majority are really ignorant about the benefits of this whole arrangement to them personally, they are busy dwelling on the negatives which with serious consideration they do not hold any water.
Their small minds tell them that now the rest of East Africans will invade Tanzania, as if this is the only EA country one can go to.Another complain is that they will not be able to compete with the rest of East Africans at the same level,if so ,am wondering whose fault is it!
How can a country with a land mass more than that of Kenya,Uganda,Rwanda and Burundi combined, blessed with natural resources which no other country can equal be so pessismistic about EAC when the truth is, if embraced it can benefit Tanzanians more than any other country.
Most East africans visiting Tanzania are still regarded as foreigners, they are being subjected to the same treatment as other foreigners,eg when visiting national parks they pay higher fees, until one has to lie that he is either from Arusha,Moshi or any town in Tz to evade this fees, where are we heading to?.
The attitude Tanzanians have towards other East africans is not welcoming. In Uganda and Rwanda things are totally different!why not in TZ!?That is why i think that,it is a high time Tanzania withdrew from EAC, let progressive minds move on,still your fears will still befall you.So long as you stll have the resources, minus the brains to utilise them, waiting for miracles to happen,WE will still come to dominate you,we have the both the intellectual and monetary capital that you cant match. It is either you accept competition, gain the experience then expoit your potential to the fullest or keep on whining while foreigners take over your country, however badly we may be treated we nothing will stop us from investing in Tanzania, most Kenyans have travelled to Burundi,Rwanda and Uganda to incorporate companies with great success within a short time, remember any citizen of E.A can sue any state or organisation within the EAC,in the E.A Supreme Court for breaching the terms of the protocol.I was happy the other day to find that the largest open air market in kenya, Gikomba, most traders are tanzanians, mostly ladies, people love them that is why they are still in business, another big market Wakulima market is full of Tanzanian trucks carrying various friuts and vegetables.Where does your fear come from!!
if that decades of democracy yield a tyrant Moi that killed many Kenyans who fought for Multipartism while in Tanzania no single bullet was fired! and if he himself had to be begged to emulate Nyereres statemanship and retire yet the good examples were coming from "a defacto single party country"! Can you call that democracy? If it took the Raila a Luo to nominate Kibaki a Kikuyu and forge an alliance (i.e. NARC) for an opposition to win and NOT GOOD POLICIES, can you on this earth dare to call decades of democracy? Of which country among great democracies can you compare with Kenya? probably the balkans :embarrassed1:! Guys get to your senses before nephotism kills you as people! with this kind of thinking among the majority of you you will slush yourselves again coming 2012! In Tanzania we have not been able to get opposition take the country and we will never use the methods Kenya used to please themselves with Democrycy while the house is burning! we have two strong opposition CUF and CHADEMA and we belive with time they will manage to convice the voters both parties have so far failed to convice the mass with CUF having the Islamic element and CHADEMA being the party that looks more of Northern regions than the whole country. They both know their weakness and i believe during this coming election they will get more Parliamentary seats to enable them take the county coming 2015! So keep yapping yourselves ati you are a model of democracy with those parochial politics you play everyday in that Kenya of yours!Oh, Really? :lying:
Apart from the English language which is mixed up with that Luo, Kikuyu and what have you..............I have not seen much to be proud of as Kenyans intellectually as well as Ujanja wa kawaida!!
Mkuu, umenena! WaTZ tutafunika, wee subiri tu. Watanzania wamefanya kazi kubwa kwa bara la Afrika sio siri hivi sasa wameingia nyumbani na wanaanza kusafisha EAC or whatever you call it Tanzanians will prevail.
Nyang'au hawana kwa kukimbilia kama walivoshindwa kwenda Sudan na Somalia time will tell. Wataendelea kuuana kama paka shume na kusubiri mabwana zao waje wawatungue kama tumbili.

Endelea kujijaza upepo. I no longer engage into exchange with a people with ZERO INPUT. Talk to the hand.
You can remain optimistic, I don't blame you.
But for me I don't subscribe to blind optimism. I can't accept the notion that the common mwananchi will beenfit without showing how or when or in which part of the process? I have pointed some issues which seems valid to this point. One of them is that in Tz, the private sector is in dogs level. Small scale manufacturing , medium and micro economy is pathetic. We are importing even chopsticks and furniture!! You can say it is a problem of policy, but it is more that that. Traders are busy importing used cars and machineries, mitumba na madudu mengine, hizi ni substandards goods which suits the purchasing power of our poor masses.
Nataka kusema ni kwamba Tz like many other developing countries, we are not there yet in the situation where our economy can rely solely on free trade. Lazima watu waanze kwene grassroots kuwa na kuwa na strong middle class, small business na kujaza bidhaa local kwa masoko ya ndani KWANZA. Top down approach will never do it. Hizo foreign investment haziwezi kusaidia watu wetu na mfano nimetoa wa madini. We have more than a decade of experience. We had countless failed foreign investments, mind you those people were even given tax holidays ili watu-exploit vizuri zaidi! Lakini hali ya kipato is still bad bad bad.
We can't afford random opening of our markets hata kwene bidhaa za vyakula (wakati tupo na ardhi ya kutosha na kuweza kufanya umwagiliaji) na mambo mengine madogomadogo ambayo ni rahisi tu ku-produce locally. Masoko yanatakiwa yafunguliwe tu kwene bidhaa zile ambazo bado tuko nyuma kitechologia kuzitengeneza kama electronics, heavy machineries and the likes.
Developed countries are very good in close monitoring the balance between imports and exports. No country can develop without finding that balance, applying this top-down approaches will make Tz to become a permanent consumer and playground for other coutry to run into. People tend to forget that in Tz lots of people do not pay taxes. Sasa wakapoondoa au kupunguza tarrifs kwene imports ina maana funding kwene development will suffer, na atakayefaidika ni importer (pengine a local national) na manufacturer (wa nje), yaani ni sawa na case ya street beggar kugawana mkate wake na mtu mwingine asiye na shida..This is so lame.
Heheheheee.. wacha woga weee.. If you allow me to give you some advise please: Just don't waste your time trying to outsmart the Nyang'au's cause in the meantime, they will be doing what they do best; business as usual.
