I am amused and amazed at some of the postings about EAC in here.
For you TZedians who strongly oppose the EAC go tell your MP and stop wasting your time posting it in here coz it does not have an impact at all...people just write, wakishamaliza kuandika wanaenda kulala.
When they wake-up they whine some more about EAC. Nothing is achieved. If you feel so strongly about go and lobby it your bunge and stop chest thumping.

The first thing i would contest is the fact that market economy is not a way forward. Realists have warned about this already. Basically I'm against any economic system whcih suggests market economy. Thats is my general view, globally not only on EAC.

Here is the truth and the truth is simple, EAC is pimped and orchestrated by the West and those guys with big investment in pursuit to secure cheap raw materials, markets and cheap labor from the region, particularly our beloved Tz. The idea of EAC is not demand-driven by the common citizens, particularly here in Tz, which speak volumes so to speak. The implication is simple, majority of the common poverty-ridden masses will not be the key players and they will never benefit at all. Their role will restricted into spectators only. We don't need to go beyond the borders to seek for vivid exemplification, that our people will not benefit from small scale globalization, Tz is .
Its evident with 'heavy' foreign investment in mining industries and other sectors, within past decade, no tangible progress have been achieved. The country has fallen deeper into debts and its budgetary dependence is worsening. Medium and small businesses are stagnant if not decaying .No serious manufacturing is done, traders are reduced into petty trading of used goods and substandards items from China et al, which the common mwananchi can afford.

Bro Abdulhalim, thanks for you brief, sound, seasoned, learned discourse.
We Tzedians thinks very broad, that is why we are termed as a conscience of africa. But for our northern neighbour these words are vocabulary for them because are not in their books, in their dictionary, culture, in their social contract. And if you ask those proponents of eac the issues of security, money laundering, drugs, human trafficking, illegal weapons etc, how the eac is going to address them. No one give the satisfying arguments. they give blah, blah.
We understand for sure that we (as Tzians) are surrounded by untamed countries. The countries which have untouchable (some) members of public, pointing LRA, MUNGIKI, as example. But in eac all these are overlooked and forgotten, every one is talking about movement of capital, labour, tax relief, etc, etc. Remember, if there is no peace and tranquility those movements you are cheering of, will be the day dream.
