Anyone attempting to destabilise Rwanda whether from within or outside the county will face severe consequences, President Paul Kagame has warned.
Rwanda's President issued the stern warning Friday during the 12th National Dialogue Council held at the country's Parliament, in the capital Kigali.
"We have secured the right to be and nobody is going to take away this right. No one has a right to do so.For those who will attempt, it will be very expensive for them," Kagame said.
However, President Kagame did not single out anybody, but warned anyone within and outside Rwanda will face severe actions.
Kagame said that Rwandans have chosen the right to be, and that ‘no one in the World has the right to deny them that right.'
Recounting 20 years ago when he was still in liberation struggle which ended the Genocide against Tutsi, Kagame pinned United Nations for its efforts to sabotage Rwandans from liberating themselves.
Kagame, who led the struggle, said he was then in Musha, Eastern part of Rwanda, when a UN agent threatened him through a telegram message, to lay down arms, saying the whole World was against RPF/A's war against then government.
Kagame, instead resisted the idea and successfully won the battle.
Twenty years after the struggle, Kagame reminded Rwandans that they have achieved a lot, but still have a long way to go.
"The situation of our country gets better every day for all of us, but the tasks ahead get even harder for all of us. However, there is a balance because as it gets hard ahead of us, we have also built strength and capacity to deal with it," he added.
The President called on Rwandans to always draw from lessons learnt in the past.
"What we have gone through should not be wasted. They have and should have shaped us to overcome any hardships in the future,"He said.
